Collared peccaries are also known as Mexican hogs or musk hogs. According to ThinkQuest, these hogs weigh anywhere between 35 and 55lbs. They have scent glands below each eye, and one on their back. They rub each other’s scent glands to mark each other in order to help recognize one another. Isn’t that neat?
This little peccary has one of the pinkest noses I have ever seen, especially in contrast to its black coat! I also love the messy hairdo. What a cutie.
